Zzap! 32 - Marzo 1989 | PDF HQ | Mensile | Videogiochi Zzap! era una rivista italiana dedicata ai videogiochi nell'epoca degli home computer ad 8-bit. La rivista originale nasce in Inghilterra col titolo Zzap!64, edita dalla Newsfield Publications Ltd (e in seguito dalla Europress Impact) in Regno Unito. Il primo numero è datato Maggio 1985; era, in questa sua incarnazione britannica, dedicata esclusivamente ai videogiochi per Commodore 64, e solo in un secondo tempo anche a quelli per Amiga; una rivista sorella, chiamata Crash, si occupava invece dei titoli per ZX Spectrum. L'edizione italiana (intitolata semplicemente Zzap!), autorizzata dall'editore originale, era realizzata inizialmente dallo Studio Vit, fino a quando l'editore decise di curare la rivista con il supporto della sola redazione interna, passando poi, dopo qualche tempo, attraverso un cambio di editore oltre che redazionale, dalle insegne della Edizioni Hobby a quelle della Xenia Edizioni; lo Studio Vit, che ha curato la rivista dal numero 1 (Maggio 1986) al numero 22 (Aprile 1988), poco tempo dopo aver lasciato Zzap! fece uscire nelle edicole italiane una rivista concorrente chiamata K (primo numero nel Dicembre 1988), dedicata sia ai computer ad 8 bit che a 16 bit. La quasi omonima edizione italiana della rivista anglosassone dedicava ampio spazio spazio anche ad altre piattaforme oltre a quelle della Commodore, come lo ZX Spectrum, i sistemi MSX, gli 8-bit di Atari ed il Commodore 16 / Plus 4 (nonché, in un secondo tempo, anche agli Amstrad CPC), prendendo in esame, quindi, l'intero panorama videoludico dei computer a 8-bit. Anche le console da gioco hanno trovato, successivamente, ampio spazio nelle recensioni di Zzap!, fino a quando la Xenia Edizioni decise di inaugurare una rivista a loro interamente dedicata, Consolemania. L'edizione nostrana è stata curata, tra gli altri, da Bonaventura Di Bello, e in seguito da Stefano Gallarini, Giancarlo Calzetta e Paolo Besser. Con il numero 73 termina la pubblicazione della rivista, in seguito ad un declino inesorabile delle vendite dei computer a 8-bit in favore di quelli a 16 e 32. Gli ultimi numeri di Zzap! (dal 74 al 84) furono pubblicati come inserti di un'altra rivista della Xenia, The Games Machine (dedicata ai sistemi di fascia superiore). In seguito, la rubrica demenziale di Zzap! intitolata L'angolo di Bovabyte (curata da Paolo Besser e Davide Corrado) passò a The Games Machine, dove è tuttora pubblicata. Tra i redattori storici di Zzap!, che abbiamo visto anche in altre riviste del settore, ricordiamo tra gli altri Antonello Jannone, Fabio Rossi, Giorgio Baratto, Carlo Santagostino, Max e Luca Reynaud, Emanuele Shin Scichilone, Marco Auletta, William e Giorgio Baldaccini, Matteo Bittanti (noto con lo pseudonimo il filosofo, usava firmare gli articoli con l'acronimo MBF), Stefano Giorgi, Giancarlo Calzetta, Giovanni Papandrea, Massimiliano Di Bello, Paolo Cardillo, Simone Crosignani. Dal 1996 al 1999 Zzap! diventò una rivista online, un sito di videogiochi per PC con una copertina diversa ogni mese e la rubrica della posta, e che recensiva i videogiochi con lo stesso stile della versione cartacea (stesso stile delle recensioni, stesse voci per il giudizio finale, caricature dei redattori).
